Temptation

main image

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

God never said we would not have temptations. In the literal sense of the Lords prayer it states in the King James "lead us not into temptation" but is that the fuller context of the statement? Certainly God temps no man (James 1:13) So why pray this if there is no temptation from God?

Well the translation needs to be examined.  New Living Translation Luke 11:4 "and forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. And don't let us yield to temptation." God is the protector of those who must endure temptation. In fact the Aramaic Bible in Plain English states 'And forgive us our sins even as we forgive all who are indebted to us, and do not lead us into temptation, but save us from The Evil One.'” It's important to know that God would never lead us from the divine purpose he has for our life.

Facing temptation is never easy. Perhaps you face something dramatic you are tempted by. Remember that he is there for us and leads us through it. He has so much for us and wants the very best for us including personal growth. Why is that you might ask? Because spiritual maturity reminds us of the goodness of God no matter the seasons of our lives. Can you think of when God helped you through something? Was there a promise in his word or a song that helped you weather the storm of that moment? We'd love to share this with you! And remember Jesus truly loves you!

Christian Life

Christian Life is a wonderful life. That said it also has its trials and pitfalls, that we must navigate around. But, we can't navigate those pit falls alone. We must not look inward, outward, or any where else but up for our guidance.

Proverbs 20:18 "Plans are established by seeking advice; so if you wage war, obtain guidance."

Proverbs 1:5 "let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance"

When we try to go through life as a Christian, we no longer have a self indulgent life, but one that leans on the knowledge of God and his grace.

Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight"

When you think of your life as a Christian, can you recall pit falls and temptations that The adversary has put in your way? Share with us how Jesus brought you through it?
