Our Time.......
A version in modern English - "the tide abides for, tarries for no man, stays no man, tide nor time tarries no man" evolved into the present day version we see today. The notion of 'tide' being beyond man's control.
When i sat by the bedside of one of God's saints, I noticed a big clock in the room where she lay. I remembered that our time on earth compared to eternity is but as James wrote in James chapter 4 verse 14 " whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away."
At the funeral of a friend, He referred to the dates on her tombstone From the beginning to the end.
And spoke the following date with tears,
Was the dash between those years
That she spent alive on earth.
Know what that little line is worth.
The cars, the house, the cash, What matters is how we live and love And how we spend our dash.
Are there things you’d like to change?
That can still be rearranged.
To consider what’s true and real
The way other people feel.
And show appreciation more
Like we’ve never loved before.
And more often wear a smile
Might only last a little while.
With your life’s actions to rehash
About how you spent your dash?
